Robert G. Kennedy, P.E.
is president of The Ultimax Group, Inc., a registered professional engineer (robotics specialty) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, USA, and worked for the United States House of Representatives Subcommittee on Space as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers 1994 Congressional Fellow. He has published extensively about technology, society, and international affairs; manufactured and distributed Russian space software worldwide, and co-authored with Ken Roy "Mirrors & Smoke: Ameliorating Climate Change with Giant Solar Sails" in the Summer 2001 issue of The Whole Earth Review.
Alexandre Vladimirovich Smirnov
is a mechanical engineer (cryogenics specialty) formerly with Minsredmash (USSR Ministry of Medium Machine Building, i.e. nuclear weapons complex) and the Moscow Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Physics. He is a co-founder of Ultimax Group, Inc. In 2000, he started up ASMITech, Inc. of Farragut, Tennessee, and is now a consulting design engineer on the Spallation Neutron Source in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, USA as well as the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER).
Kenneth I. Roy, P.E.
is a registered professional engineer (civil specialty) practicing in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, USA,. He has published extensively about space-based systems in prestigious periodicals and conferences, including the original solar sail paper at STAIF-2001.
David E. Fields, Ph.D.
is an astronomer and applied physicist, formerly an environmental modeler with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and International Atomic Energy Agency expert advisor to Brazil on environmental risk. He is now director of the Tamke-Allen Observatory in Kingston, Tennessee, and has 87 publications and 2 patents.
